The Wolf and Tree: Comfy Winter Blog Tour

\"\"The Wolf and Tree: Comfy Winter Blog Tour is a showcase of The Wolf and Tree patterns but with a wintry twist. Think warm, cozy and comfy.

I received Abby’s Overall’s and Fable Earmuff’s from Saskia. The weather in Philadelphia is really brisk right now, so Fable Earmuff’s are perfect this time of year. I had my eye on it the earmuff’s so I was really excited to make them. All patterns are on sale for $5 during the blog tour. The sale ends on December 10th!

Abby\’s Overall\’s

I knew at first glance that I wanted to make the skirt version of Abby’s Overall’s. The overalls patterns is packed with so many options.

\"\"

The options include:

  • 4 pant lengths (shortie shorts, long shorts, capris, long pants)
  • Peplum option + 3 skirt lengths (short, medium, long)
  • Two necklines – curved and straight
  • Two bodices – slim and wide
  • Optional pockets
  • Optional knee patches
  • Snap closure
  • Suspenders
  • Optional cloth diaper fit
  • Sizes 3 months – 14 years

I used a gorgeous royal blue 4-way stretch velvet. I made the long skirt with a wide bodice and added grow with me style snaps.  The skirt features a full circle skirt which is great for little girls who love to twirl. As you can see the drape on the velvet is amazing.

The overalls sewed up very quickly. The pattern instructions were clear and precise.

Modifications: I added length to the bodice and skirt so accommodate her height.  I omitted the suggested interfacing. I was scared I would burn the velvet.

Fable\’s Ear Muff\’s

I wanted to make the bunny ears version of Fable’s but moving fast and skimming the directions. I missed the instructions that were in bold to skip to #9 to make ears. I used the leftover stretch velvet to make the hard headband version of Fable’s earmuffs. I used a 3/8” hard headband. I was scared the tube was going to be hard to turn but was very easy with the stretch velvet. The tube fit the headband perfect and glided on with ease. I made these in under 20 minutes. They would make awesome Christmas gifts.

Your creativity with Fable’s is endless.
The options include:

    • Embellishment options: Crown, Deer, Bear, Fox, Cat, Bunny, Dog, Flowers
    • Muff options: Round, Troll
    • Two fabric versions: woven, knit
    • Two headband versions: hard headband, tied headband

Modifications: I used poly-fil to stuff the earmuffs. I also cut the curves with pinking shears. It defined the circular shape more for me.
